Probably it’s not enough when white leftists call for ‘multiracial coalitions’ anymore than it’s been enough when liberals have extolled ‘diversity’ and ‘inclusion.’
Probably white leftists need to call for ‘dismantling white supremacy’ and need to support anti-racism as its own cause led by black people.
Once white leftists and white progressives do that, then coalitions of more widely-framed issues will likely make sense to more black people.
In 1967, MLK said many of the whites who supported his efforts against the more blatant racism in the South were not supporting and were even hostile to his later aims at addressing the racist economic system.
That seems to still apply in 2020 when liberals were appalled by the lynching of George Floyd yet not so much interested in addressing systemic racism.
