Sept 28, 2020 Black Lives Matter (# of read-overs: 1 )

Big corporations such as Walmart, Nike, and Sony as well as the Ford Foundation have donated huge sums to Black Lives Matter.

Obviously, this does not discredit Black Lives Matter activists or negate the need to end racist police violence.

But what such funding from the establishment does show is that the ruling class wants to influence the social movement and prevent it from addressing systemic racism, and in turn prevent the movement from logically expanding to a popular, multiracial transpartisan effort to fight back against the class war which the ultra-wealthy have been waging against the working and middle classes.

Preventing systemic change is one of the functions of philanthropy.
