Catherine,
thanks for giving me some structure with which to work. I’m not likely to have a properly written pitch in time for reporting on the USSF, per se. Presently, I don’t have people who’ve already agreed to be interviewed or a sense of who I would attempt to talk with.
But likely I can, as you seem to be suggesting, make contact with prospective interviewees while there and gather notes and audio content. My guess is that I’ll work on pitches when I get back from the social forum, and then send you one or more of them around the end of June or beginning of July.
I’m confident I can help out with your food/agriculture/farming series. How could we not report that issue ? Of course, food is not the only need we have for staying alive and well, but it connects with so many ecological and social challenges : climate change; peak oil ; problems related to water, soil, infectious diseases, and ‘bio-terrorism’ ; as well as problems related to the concentration of political and economic power; and the moral implications of animal exploitation.
