Should I use Armadillo tires + puncture resistant intertubes? Use tires that allow about 65-70 psi, and not the type with sidewall writing that suggests only 40 psi. Get heavy duty (downhill) rims. One of the companies that makes them is (?) Sun Co. Double wall or triple wall rims. Invest in pedals for clip-on shoes. Get the shoes at PG. It might be an investment in terms of being able to pedal more effectively and perhaps with more endurance. If that is true, then spending the money on the shoes is a good idea. There is a type of clip-on cycling shoe that can be worn for walking. Will need to bring an old bike frame to so fabricators can see how to thread bottom bracket and to make sure the headset and the bottom bracket are the right diameter. Powder-coating frame may cost $200 or $300 or more, but it might cost less if I get it down with someone else’s job and if the coat is black (or white). Matt paid extra for something fancy.
