I mentioned Bowman because you seem as competent as any of the new grassroots progressives.

If you don’t run yourself, you might still reach out politically regarding black tech and other business dev in your city, all of that of course tied to education, housing, healthcare issues.

It’s not cooptation because Bowman and other progressives can help bring structures that mostly help black and brown folk even though some white residents benefit too.

There is a demographic dynamic in the Bronx and locales around the country such that black and brown grassroots progressives can have political power via economic dev for their predominantly black and latinx constituents.

That’s a real life combo of racial/ cultural and economic issues that the Democratic establishment often merely pays lip service too. THAT problem should be your misgiving, not grassroots progressive coalitions.

White people like me recognizing the coalition power of AOC, Bowman, Cori Bush in Missouri, Ilham Omar in Minnesota, Tlaib in Detroit…etc is not cooptation because those new politicians are serving their majority non-white constituents. They are not selling them out by any stretch of the imagination.

All the better if white progressives recognize the power Bowman and others indicate, and forge coalitions. There are two main paths for whites : paranoia and fear as the US becomes majority non-white, or recognizing the power of multi-racial economic justice.

Coalitions aren’t about abandoning your base community. They’re about seeing overlap areas thru which your community can enhance its own interests.
