Revenge

Maybe people can mitigate, if not avoid, revenge if we channel our extraordinary grievances into energy for achieving goals we deem, a community or as a society, to be worthwhile. Maybe the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in post-Apartheid South Africa involved that. But without a higher purpose that people of opposing sides can relate to as worthwhile, forgiving those who’ve wronged us seems degrading.
