Combining intellectual and social rigor

I am using the words ‘me’ and ‘I’ so as to not point the finger at anyone. Instead I intend to apply this idea to my own life: my role in the community, as a independent media person , would grow if I expanded my social circle by pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.

Added to my process of reading and writing, I intend to engage with people as a reporter in ways that involve me striving to get across social barriers such as those pertaining to race, nationality, class, gender, religion, sexuality, political ideology, and so on.

Doing that is a way to combine intellectual rigor with social rigor.
