It may be that humans will evolve in such a way that we generally come to regard the welfare of the society as a whole more than our own or that of close friends and family. ——But this generally wouldn’t involve us abandoning our loved ones, leaving them to suffer and die. Our close loved ones and we ourselves would be better off if most or all members of society had that ‘evolved ‘ mentality. We and our loved ones may be better off in such a state of affairs than they and we were when society was more loyal to close friends and family. ——This makes me wonder how so-called primitive societies balanced concern for close loved ones with concern for the overall society or for all life on Earth. ——Most folk speak of tribalism as something negative.
