What's the greater threat to human rights, ignoring or addressing ecological problems ?

Yeah, a disturbing thought that crosses my mind sometimes is the prospect of people using ecological concerns as their rationale for genocide.

Having said that, though, it seems to me that many, if not most, of the environmentalist writers and activists are working on addressing ecological challenges so as to reduce the chances of all sorts of ugliness that tends to occur when resources are not available.

Whether it’s people fighting over water, food, oil, arable land…whatever, it would make sense to address our environmental challenges.

Neglecting to face ecological reality is a greater threat to freedom, dignity, human rights, and public health, than seeking to come to terms with it.

It’s sad and ironic, but not surprising that reactionaries against environmentalism seek to spindoctor things so that efforts to address these issues appear as steps toward eco-totalitarianism.
