The following organization was started by Karen Armstrong, who writes about religion in a way that is rigorous in terms of the humanities and the physical and social sciences. She doesn’t claim the Earth is only 6,000 years old, or seek to present shoddy refutations of evolutionary biology. She’s a proponent of interfaith alliances, not an atheist, nor a religious fundamentalist who believes her faith tradition is right and that all others are false.
I sometimes don’t conduct my conversations with theists as tactfully as I should, but the intended gist for me is that the core issue is compassion, not convoluted religious dogma with which people have sought to justify some of the most extreme forms of cruelty and oppression in human history.
