Trying to control what others think and do

Vegans and others concerned about animal exploitation might want to make an assessment of how well we are actually helping with the problem, by way of our choice of tactics.

Disclaimer : I don’t speak for RSR or other vegans.

Here’s a guess about my own behavior. I’m too concerned about what others think and do to the degree I’m neglecting to follow my own conscience.

Trying to control the thinking and behavior of others involves a type of—perhaps to borrow from Freudian psychology— ‘projection’ and ‘displacement.’ Simply put, it’s a matter of being out of touch with myself.

Use writing to shift thru what motivates me, with the most self-awareness I can muster, intuitively and rationally.

Using myself as the object of study here, trying to not point my finger at you or others.

Veganism is a relevant public issue, as the (un)popularity of this and related CU threads indicates. But suspect some attitudes and tactics are better than others. That applies to all sides.
