So far, this section is organized according to a few ideas. It’s a work-in-progress and open to revision as we share our views with one another.
One idea is that random acts of kindness aren’t enough to make the world a better place, or even to keep it from getting worse. We need to socially organize kindness, from the most local to the most global of scales.
It doesn’t have to be your formulation, but so far mine is that socially organized kindness requires me to do my best to distinguish my needs from my wants, and to strive to meet my needs with as little harm and as much benefit to human and nonhuman others as possible.
The site menu is organized not only according to that formulation but also according to the idea that socially organized kindness involves working to help resolve that which threatens the ability of human and nonhumans to meet our needs.
